Under an Italian vineyard, an ancient Roman mosaic floor was discovered.

A Roman mosaic was uncovered beneath an Italian farm near Verona. Architects uncovered the gem in the hills above the Negrar di Valpolicella town in northeastern Italy. The discovery was made nearly a century after the discovery of the ruins of an old villa.

Archaeologists believe the elaborate flooring was part of the previously discovered structure. It was located “after endless decades of unsuccessful attempts.”

Technicians are presently determining the most secure method of excavating the beautiful mosaic floor, which is thought to date back to the third century AD.
